History
Johannisberg was first mentioned in Valais in 1862. Its
name certainly comes from the Château de Johannisberg in
the Rheingau region. Blanc du Rhin appeared at the same
time and corresponds to Sylvaner. Johannisberg from the
Valais has been protected since 1966 and is now the
second most famous Valais white wine in Switzerland.
Vineyard
Our selection comes from vines that are an average of 50
years old, grown on the rocky terraces of the Chamoson
hillside, beneath the Haut de Cry massif. at an altitude of
500 - 580meters; Guyot pruning for a yield of 850 gr/m2;
Grape variety
Sylvaner is the result of an ancient natural cross between
Heïda in Valais and Traminer.
Vinification
Slow, gentle pressing, an initial fermentation at a low
temperature of 18°C and eight months in vats, during which
malolactic fermentation takes place in part, guarantee
maximum length for this wine, while preserving the finesse
and freshness of its aromas.
